Stone Valley Trail Now Marked

The Colton Fire Department has been working with Brookfield Renewables to put together a map of the Stone Valley Trail and to mark the trail for rescue purposes. Earlier this year, RJ Thayer (firefighter/EMT) walked down the trail on both sides of the river with Brookfield to identify locations for signage and how to identify those points.
Since that time, Brookfield has produced signs (see insert) and installed these signs every quarter mile along the trails on both sides of the Raquette River. They have provided the map included here with the location of the markers shown. This was all done at their expense.
The markers and map will allow the Colton Fire and Rescue personnel to quickly ascertain the location of persons in distress and make quick, logical decisions on the access point to get to those victims. Ultimately this will allow to us to provide life-saving care in more timely manner than ever before.
Our thanks go out to Brookfield for their work in getting this done.
