A special presentation was made to Jerry Wilson for 50 years of fire service. He was awarded a clock and citations from NNYVFA and FASNY. The following statement was read by President Angleberger:

It is not often that a department member reaches that significant plateau where they have amassed 50 years of service to a department. It requires dedication, years of training, ups and downs, and giving of ones’ own self and takes significant time away from family and friends. Tonight we honor one of the few that have reached the pinnacle of a career of sacrifice and service to their community.

Since 1964, this man has offered his time and life to the fire service. He has served in many capacities within the department, many of which I don’t even know of, my tenure being so recent within the department. He currently serves on the Board of Fire Commissioners, Fire Police and as a Department trustee. He is still an active fire investigator for the County. He performs many smaller, but very important duties within the department, details like the ordering of replacement oxygen for the ambulances or organizing flag placement on the cemeteries for Memorial Day.

Jerry Wilson has for 50 years provided his time and efforts to the Colton Fire Department. Tonight we honor his 50 years of service.
