| The academy will give participants an opportunity to explore the world of emergency services through engaging, hands-on activities. They will develop basic first responder skills while learning about fire safety and prevention, emergency medical care, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. The academy is open to young people with all interests and future goals. Participants do not need to be considering a career in emergency services to benefit. The confidence, teamwork, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills they develop can help them at school, at work, and throughout life. For those interested in medicine, fire service, emergency medical services, law enforcement, emergency management, or other public-service careers, the academy can provide an exciting introduction and a strong foundation for the future. This academy is about more than learning new skills. It is an opportunity to build confidence, explore potential career paths, and inspire the next generation of community volunteers and first responders. The academy begins Wednesday, September 16, and will meet from 6:00–7:00 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Colton Volunteer Fire Department. Space is limited. Register at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/y0NvwBGpaD, or email academy@coltonfire.org with questions. |
